Originally
developed by NASA’s Ames Research Centre in the early 1970’s,
viscoelastic materials were used in the seats of space capsules to help
relieve astronauts of the incredible G-force pressures they experienced
during lift-off. The resulting material was a temperature-sensitive,
mouldable substance that instantly distributed the pressure of the
human body over its entire surface, giving the feeling of
weightlessness.
Tempur’s Viscoelastic material is composed of
millions of Memory Cells which sense your body temperature and then
conform to your head and neck’s dimensions.
