What inspired you to become an Osteopath?
Having had Osteopathic treatment when I was younger I got to see first hand the incredible effects of Osteopathy. Being an avid sports fan I was always drawn to exercise and movement so in conjunction with wanting to help people achieve their best Osteopathy was a perfect fit.
What is your philosophy when it comes to helping individuals improve their sleep health? Are there any specific principles or strategies you follow in your practice?
Practicing a good sleep routine. Decreasing screen use 1-2 hours prior to bed, and unwinding with either a book or yoga is a simple start. Each individual is unique with their sleep patterns so trying to balance this with best practice is the goal.
What are some of the most common sleep-related issues you encounter in your practice?
Grinding of teeth, clenching of the jaw and headaches.
How do you go about diagnosing and addressing these issues?
Thorough Osteopathic assessment and treatment along with providing at home management techniques and exercises.
Advice for Better Sleep
Many people struggle with sleep problems. What general advice or tips would you offer for improving sleep quality and overall well-being?
Practising a sleep routine is vital so aim to go to sleep at the same time each night and rising at the same time each morning (even on the weekends .... I know) decreasing or limiting screen use 1-2 hours before bed, practising mindfulness and yoga, regular exercise ideally in the morning, not before bed and finally a good quality mattress and pillow.
